Professor Sachin Pandya co-authored an amicus brief, filed February 16, 2016 on behalf of several non-profit organizations, in Griffin v. Sirva, Inc., No. CTQ-2016-00002, a case currently before the New York Court of Appeals. The appeal concerns New York law that prohibits any person from denying employment to any individual because of his or her criminal conviction history.
Professor Peter Kochenburger has been reappointed a consumer liason representative for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners for 2017. Kochenburger is one of 35 consumer liaisons who advise commissioners on consumer interests relating to the insurance industry by promoting interaction between consumers and commission members. Kochenburger has been a consumer representative since 2010.
Professor Peter Kochenburger will speak at the Connecticut Bar Association's Annual Insurance Law Symposium on February 23, 2017, at UConn School of Law. This year's symposium will focus on bad faith litigation both in Connecticut and throughout the United States. Kochenburger will moderate a panel entitled What is Bad Faith in 2017?
Professor Peter Kochenburger will speak at Insurance Business's Flood Risk 2017 conference on March 23, 2017, in Orlando, Florida. The conference seeks to help insurance agents "improve their flood practices and better serve their clients" by discussing the current state of flood insurance and predicting what the flood market will look like in the future.
Professor Alexandra D. Lahav spoke at the 111th annual meeting of the American Association of Law Schools on Jan. 6, 2017, in San Francisco in a panel discussion on the topic of MDL Problems.
