David Axinn

Special Deputy Superintendent at New York Liquidation Bureau


David Axinn is a practicing attorney and head of the New York Liquidation Bureau, the office which manages insurance receiverships on behalf of the New York Superintendent of Financial Services.  David’s practice areas have included financial services regulation and white collar criminal defense.   He has also served in the New York Attorney General’s Office in a number of capacities.  He has guest lectured in the Solvency Regulation class for a number of years and was an adjunct professor of Legal Research and Writing at Cardozo Law School.  

David received his BA from Columbia University with a major in European History and his JD from Columbia Law School.  He has written articles on a number of litigation oriented topics, including an overview of New York receivership law published in the New York State Bar Association Journal.   

David is a native of New York City and an avid runner and gardener.
